Home of Project #JG20MVP

Acknowledging his role in maintaining MLB’s “color barrier”, the Baseball Writers Association of America (BBWAA) voted last year to remove former commissioner Kenesaw “Mountain” Landis’ name from its annual MVP awards. Hall-of-Famer Josh Gibson is one of several names that has surfaced to replace Landis on the trophy.

The artists of the NLBMarketplace agree that this would be a fitting act of redemption, not just for Gibson, but the thousands of other Black men who never got their chance to play in the Major Leagues. So, from May – July 2021, 75 artists from 5 countries around the word, participated in the PROJECT #JG20MVP BASEBALL CARD ART CHALLENGE, each creating a unique baseball card to celebrate Josh Gibson in their own unique style.

After 9 weeks of competition and public voting, our Final Four was decided by our panel of 29 Celebrity Judges. Click here to see our Champion crowned on Beckett Live Presents.

Please scroll our Gallery to see all 75 of the Project #JG20MVP Artists. Many of these cards are still for sale, with proceeds benefitting the Josh Gibson Foundation.
